The picture depicts Lugia's habitat perfectly, the legends about the storms caused by it seem to be implied by the background, and the spiral in the water effectively draws all of the viewer's attention to Lugia itself. Looking at the walk through of this, I can see that you certainly payed attention to what you were doing. I can appreciate that in an artist. I cannot effectively describe how much this picture caught my very being for a moment after I looked at it. overall, I would have rated it 5 stars on all accounts, but the originality in fanart can only go so high.
To replace the comment I would have added below: "lol, I think I could effectively use those wings as a reference to draw hands. hmm... I might actually do that!"
The shading is really magnificent! The way you shaded the clouds and everything in the picture is really wonderful, the impact it created is great, one can stare at this for a matter of minutes without losing focus. The effect that the water curves into the middle below Lugia gives it the feeling that it is very powerful. You took consideration of how the clouds have different shades of colors on them due to the sun, which might be possibly hidden behind the clouds. Also, the gleam seen on the rocks and water and Lugia's hands enhance the effect it creates, and thus completing the drawing and merging all the layers together. The foam created when Lugia storms is depicted as a whitish-blue mix with a slight taint of purple, and the positioning is very accurate. The shadows seen below the rocks are observed on the water surface, thus merging it together. There is a clear blue line at the edge of the whirlpool, gratifying the effect and thus making it appear 3D-looking. However, there are some slight flaws on the drawing. For example, try removing the patches seen on the rocks, especially the one at the bottom right, as it is not very accurate, taking lighting angles into consideration. Also, Lugia's shadow should be supposed to appear on the water surface in front of it, taking into consideration that the sun is right behind it. But however, overall, this is a really great piece, really well done and I can see that tremendous effort has been put into this. The impact it creates is really deep, and also very catchy and is a feast for the eyes. Keep up the good work!
Wow that is just awesome. First i thought that lugia is shouting "Hey, wait for me!" ^_^. Ehm you use photoshop. But do u use a mouse or an graphik tablet to draw something awesome like this because drawing with the mouse is realy difficuilt ya know...
