Description

As Jasmine outstretched her arms, the patch of dirt where they had buried their seed began to glow. Around them, a gentle wind began to awaken. Leon was beginning to experience unsettling and clung onto Vagus’ arm. If the Totodile was nervous, he wasn’t showing it. With his lone eye, he continued to watch Jasmine with a vacant expression. His curiosity seemed to outweigh his desire for caution.

The wind became stronger and brought with them, a strange sense of rejuvenation. Leon felt as though his body had become lighter at that very moment. The withered trees began to sway while their branches creaked in protest to the wind’s forcefulness. It was then that Leon noticed something that challenged his understanding. The trees around them that stood glum and withered began to turn a shade of green once more.

Before Leon could alert this to Vagus’ attention, the ground before them began to tremble. He held Vagus tighter and gasped when the crooked stem of an infant tree burst from the ground. It came so suddenly that even Vagus jolted back out of surprise.

Within moments, the sapling began to take form. Growing and shifting, it took to the sky. The trees around it seemed to respond to its presence. Everything appeared to be connected in some way or another. The wind only intensified as the tree grew.

Concerned for Leon, Vagus discarded his shovel and held the Riolu close to him. The Riolu buried his head in Vagus’ embrace, trying to find sanctuary in his caring arms. Around them, the wind seemed to breathe new life into trees as their sagging branches began to lift and their leaves began to return to their former green.

The seedling continued to grow and tower above them. Its branches were dark and crooked as they spanned wide. The tree was completely bare and seemed to look down at both Vagus and Leon with a menace. Lifting his head from Vagus’ embrace, Leon caught sight of the tree. The sight of it made his heart sink. The tree appeared to be no more than an abomination when compared to the others nearby.

Just as suddenly as it had started, the wind stopped. Both Leon and Vagus were left dumbfounded by its sudden absence. They both exchanged bewildered looks before gazing up at the twisted tree that loomed over them. They averted their eyes just in time to see clusters of Cheri blossoms explode from the tree’s menacing branches.

The whole tree soon became alive with activity. Its branches seemed to disappear under an invading army of Cheri blossoms. A wondrous aroma quickly began to fill Leon’s nose while petals began to fly around them. The wind made a gentle return. It seemed to carry a certain warmth with its caress. The tree soon stood with its branches almost entirely encased by Cheri blossoms. It was impossible to even acknowledge that it had once taken on a more menacing form.

The sight made Leon’s heart warm with a profound sense of joy. With the pink petals of the blossoms showering around them, he looked to Vagus with a pair of glimmering eyes. This special moment was all the more unique with him being there. Vagus too, looked back at Leon with a smile of his own. Eventually, the two were unable to contain their joy any longer and released it in the form of laughter.

Leon felt Vagus’ arms around him as the Totodile held him in brief embrace. Leon smiled and giggled shyly as Vagus gazed into his eyes. It was then Vagus spoke to him words that made him blush. “Does my Leon wanna dance?” he said with a chuckle.

At first, Leon thought he was joking, but soon felt Vagus’ hands hold his paws. Leon giggled shyly and looked away. He laughed. “Ooh, but I don’t know how.”

Vagus chuckled. “Neither do I. J-just come here, darl.” Smiling wider than ever, Vagus began to take lead of their dance. Leon responded with another laugh and tried to move along with Vagus. Together, the two proceeded to dance under the flow of petals that rained around them. Leon kept his eyes locked on Vagus. The Totodile’s handsome and rugged features were enough to make Leon feel at ease.

The pair laughed and chuckled at their foolish and untrained steps. Occasionally, Leon would set a foot wrong and would stumble. He wasn’t worried in the slightest; Vagus’ arms made sure he didn’t fall. Eventually he managed to follow Vagus’ equally clumsy lead. Their cackles filled the petal-ridden air as they swayed and danced along. They cared little about the clumsiness in their movements and simply enjoyed sharing their joy. The joy of being together and the joy of belonging to one another.

Their dance brought them to the trunk of the tree. It was then that Leon felt one of the tree’s roots catch his foot. With a small yelp, the Riolu fell back. With his arms around Leon, Vagus was unable to stop himself from falling along with him. With a grunt, Vagus fell onto his behind while Leon fell into his lap. For a moment, the two regarded each other with astonishment before laughter burst from them.

Their laughs began to die down and soon the two lovers looked upon one another; admiring the features that made them appear so special. Leon felt his heart begin to race as he stared up at Vagus. With a fluffy paw, he caressed the Totodile’s cheek, beckoning him to move his head closer. “I love you...” he whispered.

Vagus said nothing. Repeating Leon’s words would be empty in their meaning. It was a case such as this when actions spoke louder than any word. Moving his head closer, Vagus brought the tip of his mouth to Leon’s lips and pressed against them. He wrapped his arms tight around Leon and held him dear as they kissed.

Above them, upon the blossom petals and the love that filled the air; Jasmine watched on. Perched up on one of the tree’s blooming branches, she regarded the two with a smile and a giggle. The two lovers below her seemed completely forgetful of the fact that she was even there.

With a smile and nod of her head, she regarded the two with a sense of approval. Over her, the sky beckoned her to fly forth. Allowing herself one final glance at the two lovers, she took burst forth into the air; leaving Leon and Vagus to be alone with their happiness.
